Is it a bedroom for a boy and a girl? Think of neutral colours

End space-sharing problems with a clever colour scheme.

Kids are naturally drawn to bright colours but if you’re decorating a space that’s shared by a boy and girl, you may have to re-think their request to paint the walls their favourite colour. The key to creating a gender-neutral space that still ignites little ones’ imaginations is to create a canvas and work from there, incorporating colours through accessories, bed linen and artwork.

Warm neutral colours like cream and warm stone are versatile hues that can be easily mixed and matched with pops of other colours, such as reds, pinks, greens or greys. Cool neutral colours and white come to life when paired with blues, turquoise, deep purple, or lime. Use your children’s favourite colours to divide the space by painting feature walls, furniture and alcoves.
