The visual interest of a house can be enhanced by implementing some easy paintings. An upgrade in the painting design is possible by giving walls a flair of elegance. With the help of easy paintings and a little dramatic experiment approved by designers can turn your faded and dull wall into a focal point of the house. If you want to do your painting design by yourself and need expert’s advice, all the steps are given below to achieve the purpose:
1. Elect the wall for painting design
An accent wall with a painting design can accentuate the beauty of the entire room as it enhances the color scheme you pick for adjacent walls. An engaging focal point to have an accent wall can be any wall, but an ideal choice for that may be a bed’s headboard, built-in showcase, or a large window panel.
2. Select your color and its finish
If you are going for easy paintings in a single-color scheme for an accent wall, keep the color of an accent wall in a dark tone in comparison to other walls, ceiling, and decor. But if you have picked a double or multicolor scheme, then choose the darkest shade for designing your accent wall as neutral and natural tones on the remaining walls will balance the look while enhancing the look of the accent wall.
Once you decide on the color scheme, select the kind of finish you want. The paint finish is the texture of the paint you choose for your wall which decides how much light the wall is going to reflect or absorb. Try to maintain an even sheen on all walls as it will connect the rhythm of the color scheme and internal environment.
3. Prepare the surface
Paint doesn’t adhere well to dirty and damaged surfaces so make sure you properly clean and repair all surfaces before painting them. If the wall has any holes, cracks, or any other kind of damage, fix it with spackling compound. And to clean the surface, wipe down the wall with the help of a cloth or sponge with mild detergent. Also, make sure that you let the surface dry well before starting the paintwork.
4. Apply primer then paint
Though it’s not a necessary step but if you apply primer before painting, it will help the paint to spread better and smooth. Undercoats of primer enhances the look of the wall and also helps in hiding stains if you are planning to paint light colors. But before applying colors on the wall let the primer dry well.
